    50 Hz refresh flickers when looking _directly_ at the monitor, it
is 60 Hz (the GS's standard refresh) that flickers out of the corner
of your eye. Actually I find it very uneasy to look at after extended
periods of time, after looking at an SVGA monitor refreshing at 100 Hz. 

    The low refresh rate, scanlines and 0.37 dot pitch make the Apple
Color RGB look pretty gross these days (though I still think it makes
an excellent SuperNintendo video display! :).

    Television technology hasn't really changed for decades. I found 
it kind of assuming that a set of antique encyclopedia's my family
has from the early 1950's, contains information on CRT technology 
that is *still* current today, in 1997. Some things have improved, 
but the technology overall remains relatively the same. It is about
time a change occurred. :)
