My old DeskJet 550C works quite well with AppleWorks and ProTerm. If the
serial port of the 870Cse will work at a normal 19200 baud, it should work
fine with them also. If it only works at a higher speed, then you will
probably need a parallel card to use it with 8 bit programs.
