According to the GS schematic, you're looking for an LED. Probably, you
want something like a 100-200 mcd brightness, 2-3V, green LED with a 40
degree viewing angle that will match the original in size/shape. A local
electronic parts supplier should stock high-brightness green LED's. They are
available via mail order from Digi-Key and Mouser.
