Re: Concerning the Beagle Oldies freeware programs

The message I posted is the only official word anyone has ever gotten
from the copyright holders of the Beagle Oldies Collection. But, since
that notice was from 1989, I really think that we need to get the status
of the Beagle Oldies Collection clarified.
As it is, the verification of the status of that collection (as listed
with the Treasure Chest Project) came from Mark Munz, a highly respected
Apple II programmer and a former Beagle Bros.
There's only one problem with that verification...Mark is not the copyright
holder. It's the Simomsons who own the copyrights for the Beagle Oldies
Collection.
If Mark Munz is in contact with the Simonsons, then I think it would be real
easy for him to find out how the Simonsons feel about their software being
available from the net and from other places.
I don't know about the rest of you, but until verification comes from the
copyright holder, either directly or via Mark Munz, I think that the
status of the Beagle Oldies is still up in the air.
That's my ][ cents...
BTW, when I worked for Big Red Computer Club, I made a deal with the
Simonsons that allowed BRCC to distribute the freeware Beagle Collection.
In return for permission to distribute those "freeware" titles, BRCC
contributed $1,000 to a charitable organization. So, freeware does not
automatically mean that something is free.
