I have a manual for the Octo-RAM. for 8 Meg you want to set all 5 jumpers
to the right. 

As far as SIMMs here is a quote from the manual:
" If you are purchasing SIMMs, you are looking for either 1 Meg or 256K by
8 or by 9. Either will work.  .....  The Apple IIgs can use any speed
faster than 150 ns chips."
