.Perhaps you are thinking of an ASDL modem its like 2000k down and 500k up.
  At least that is what a local company here is saying they support.   

Does anybody know if you can hook a 56k (not USR, take a look at
ftp://ground.isca.uiowa.edu/apple2/MiscInfo/Telcomm/k56flex), cable, or ASDL 
to a GS assuming that the GS could run fast enough?
