Are you sure you can't run Appleshare 3.0 on a PPC? Here are the version/
processor/system compatibilities I know of:

version 2 only runs under system 6
version 3 only runs under system 7
version 4 won't run on 68000/020/030
certain version 4's only run on '040s and others are native only

I never saw anything saying 3.0 won't run in emulation on a Pmac.

I did learn one Appleshare related thing which is kinda disappointing. To get
my IIgses to boot from Appleshare, I have to switch my SE/30 file server to 
localtalk. For some reason, they won't boot from it when it's on ethernet 
communicating through the Fastpath. All my IIs can see the server once they're
booted. I wonder if it's a zone thing. My Fastpath is configured such that all
ethernet devices are in a zone named ethertalk and all localtalk devices are 
in a zone named localtalk.
