I've often had similar lock up problems with ShadowWrite/Hermes. I'm not
so sure that it is Text Edit, as I do not have these problems with
EGOed. I prefer Hermes for short read me files and short writing jobs,
as it is much faster than EGOed (IMHO), but the lockups are real.
Of course, even without speed, EGOed does have some great features, like
RTF and its Find command.
