Actually, it has an NEC V30 processor, which is compatible with both
80186 and Z80 code. It is a little less crippled than an 8088 or even
an 8086. Many things that require a '286 will run on a '186, but not
an 8088 or 8086. The 80186 was never really popular in PC computers,
but can be found in many microcontroller applications.

The PC transporter will let you convert between MS-DOS and ProDOS (or
HFS) with ease. You can run the DOS version of WordPerfect on it
quite well. You can even run Win 3.1 (supposedly requires a '286, but
a '186 is enough), but for the PCT, the ideal graphics OS if you must
use one is GeoWorks (from http://www.geoworks.com or
http://www.surplusdirect.com), a nifty little applications suite with
a custom OS that is even capable of pre-emptive multitasking. It can
make use of virtual memory to get around the PCT's 640K limit.

On question I asked a couple of weeks ago but no one answered:

When I swapped the PCT's oscillator with one with double the MHz,
the display changed so that there were four little PCT screens, one
on each corner of the monitor. Does this mean that the scan rate
is controlled by the oscillator and that I can theoretically use the
PCT with a VGA monitor? I know that it won't give extra colors or
resolution, but will it work? (The PCT is in a IIGS)
