Re: Null modem problems

This is regarding the discussions about serial connections with the IIc and IIc+. My
comments will be regarding the IIc only because this is my recent experince (day
before yesterday) experimenting with serial connections on the IIc.

This is not quite my experience (12/10/96). To test our serial network connection, I
had:

Apple IIc with printer port (Din-5/f) and modem port (Din-5/f)
IIc printer cable (Din-5/m -> DB-25/m)
IIc modem cable (Din-5/m -> DB-25/m)
null modem adapter  (DB-25/f -> DB-25/f)
gender changer  (DB-25/f -> DB-25/f)
serial cable  (DB-25/m -> DB-25/f)

The modem cable works attached to the modem port with the null modem adaptor and the
software "driver" set to null modem (CTS/RTS).

The printer cable does not work in the modem port with any adaptor and/or software
settings/"drivers". (I did not try the printer port. Also, I did not independently
test the printer cable, or try a second one, but assume it is okay since it was new
out of the package.)

Hope this is helpful.
