So I guess this is that post. :-)
I hardly think saying I'm not wild about it is "bad-mouthing"
it, but now I'll be a little more specific. First, the
qualifier that I haven't tried to use it too much.
Basically, selecting text is hard to do. I was trying to
select part of the Scrollback buffer to copy to the editor,
and it was next to impossible. I wound up copying the whole
thing, and using the editor to delete the stuff I didn't want.
The only keyboard based editor I use is VI. I don't use
Appleworks at all. Of course, PT3 doesn't use VI commands
either. Knowing that I couldn't (intuitively) use the
keyboard commands, I tried to use the mouse. The mouse
does NOT follow the standard conventions for selecting
text. (eg, double click to select word, triple for line,
shift-drag to select a range)
I can forgive their noncompliance to the AW standard, partially
because I don't know it and partially because it isn't a
real standard - just common among A2. But the mouse
conventions are worldwide. Since the PT3 manual explicitly
cites the Apple Human Interface guidelines on refering to
the Command/Option keys, I can't forgive them for not
following this convention.
I'll admit my original post didn't explain my dissatisfaction,
but I trust you'll agree now that I have a valid criticism.
Cheers,
