   Such a thing would be possible, but it would actually make a lot of
things look worse. Basically, due to a (boneheaded) limitation in the
GS's Font Manager, fonts can not be larger than 255 points in
size. [And this limitiation is built into pretty much GS word
processor; there's no 2-byte patch to up it.] At 300dpi, you must
scale everything up 4x from that's on the screen, so the maximum
usable font size is 63 points high. Doubling that to 600 would limit
the max font size to 31 points, which would be worse.

   There is C source code for unix binscii unpackers; if you mean the
Apple II variants, then try to talk to the author, Todd Whitesel. [He
has a real life and job, and can take a week or more to respond. He's
also been harassed by several dorks in the A2 community, and doesn't
like to give out his software because of that.]
