   From the list of GS error codes at
http://www.visi.com/~nathan/a2/faq/gserrors.html , that error is:

0040 OS:bad pathname

   Something's getting messed up.

   Shrinkit files have internal checksums to be pretty darn sure
that if the file passes the checksum check, it's what was originally
packed up. I'd still recommend grabbing it off a legitimate Apple II
ftp site via ftp, but this may be a rare bug that you've encountered.
