If it only crashes in GS/OS it's not a heat problem. I think it's more like a
conflict between extra's in the finder.

Do you ever shift-boot and see if it crashes often?

My GS/OS system is rather "heavy" and I run a METAL/ FutureVision BBS on it
too (I'm typing from it right now), but both systems are stable... The only
thing I need is a SupraFAXmodem instead of this silly_people_thing, the
SupraExpress 288 with wrong modem cable.
