I was looking at designing one of these but it never came to fruition.
I have just recently seen a description of what might be a nice chip
for such a card - the CL-CD180. It has 8 channnels up to 64kb/s, 8 byte FIFOs
user & automatic flow control, 4 control signals + Tx & Rx per channel,
all in one 84 pin PLCC. Anyone know how much this chip is retail and who sells
it? It is made by Cirrus Logic.
