Well... if you're a really good programmer (i.e., write easy to understand, 
maintain programs that don't usually need to be redesigned), you can probably 
start with C; otherwise, USE PASCAL(!!) to start.  While PASCAL is a bit more 
confining (you have to operate within its framework); it WILL teach you 
practices that'll be useful when you start working in C.
