There's no way there are only 250, unless I've had the chance to personally
see about half of those in existence. 50000 is the number I hear the most
often.

You'll have to show me one before I believe there is such a thing. You're
trying to tell me that Apple tooled up for the the new case design and just
happened to decide to make beige ones then switch to grey just in time for
production? I'd say it's far more likely that pre production boxes came
in //e cases if they were in anything but the normal grey box.
