Talking about bandwith and the variance in topics... I have been thinking
about this lately.

I run a BBS. I know why so few people post a message on a BBS
(including mine) and why they always go downloading in the Exodus Xfer
section, etc. In short: they are passive users.

Why do they do that? Because most people are afraid to post a message. Afraid
that someone will trap them on their fingers when they make a mistake (you see
new-posters editing their posts all the time, to make sure there are as few as
possible errors in it). They just don't dare to cross the border.

And you know what?

The same is going on in this newsgroup!

I'm not mentioning people in specific, but several people ALWAYS need to blame
and flame posters for their mistakes. And even while they make those mistakes
abusively (like I'm doing), they get spelling lessons (this example refers to
Nathan).

And I am NOT blaming anyone for doing this, but from what I know and from what
I have learned on my own BBS, is THAT WE SHOULD NOT BLAME OR FLAME PEOPLE!

Once this has happened, don't expect them to EVER post a message again! There
are hundreds, maybe thousands of people reading this newgroup, and we only
notice a few of them. Most of them look UP AGAINST those who know alot (I know
this from myself and alot friends). So when someone blames or flames him/ her,
he/ she will not come back, or at least not show he/ she's still around.

What I propose, is that we think before we post. I personally don't give a
damn about spelling errors, mistakes and a large signature every now and then.
I don't care if a message is off-topic, as long as it's only every now and
then. I don't give a darn about who is visiting this place and who is not,

but I give a THING about those who DO visit this place. And we should be a
good community, be the Apple II community, be friendly to each other!

I hope that alot people think the same about this. If you want to talk about
it, feel free to email me. My address is: dark_dude@darkcastle.ecore.fnet.org
I will reply to every single email.
