1. In my Boot:System:System:Setup folder I have a PIF named
Fielder. What does it do? Where did it come from? Additionally,
what is SIM? SIM is 1371 bytes of mystery to me. Can I safely
remove these files? What is the penalty for doing so?
2. Wouldn't it be grand if every provider of applications for
the IIgs attached a comment via oa-I giving the author,
status (Shareware, Freeware, Commercial, etc.), and function?
A comment at large has to do with applications that have README
files and drone on for "hours," about the application and then bury
the Shareware/Freeware/Donerware/etc., status "somewhere" towards
the end. Putting off telling me until the end "kinda" says to me
that you are not really interested in getting your shareware fee.
PLEASE let the reader know in the first paragraph exactly what the
status is for your application e.g., "This is shareware/whatever and
costs $xx dollars to be sent to Fred Smertz..."
I put together a library of disks for our Apple club from internet
downloads. Associated with these downloads is an AppleWorks DB file
that gives what I think is pertinent information about the
application. In many cases it isn't clear whether an application is
freeware or something else. I default to marking it freeware in
those cases.
Kind Regards, Joe Walters
