You should be able to buy or order the proper cable from almost any 
computer store that carries Mac stuff. I get my cables from a local 
electronics store that carries cables, and they are happy to order 
anything they don't stock.

Any external modem that isn't RPI or use ADB power should work. RPI modems 
are missing some hardware that is duplicated by special software running 
under Windows or the Mac OS--obviously they won't work on a IIc. And the 
IIc does not have an ADB bus and thus cannost supply ADB power to the 
modem.

As for speed, the 8-bit Apples are quite capable of 14.4 operation. I am 
not experienced with the IIc; there are different models of it, and I do 
not know if all of them can run a modem at high speed. Hopefully someone 
will ring in on that subject.

As for telecom software, there is only ONE choice: ProTERM 3.1.  Accept no 
substitutes. ProTERM 3.1 is arguably the finest text-based telecom program 
in the world, and we are lucky to have it for our machines.
