JPEGTRANS is a utility to translate one variant of jpeg image into
another losslessly.  E.g. from progressive jpeg to sequential jpeg.
Progressive jpeg images can be displayed as a series of images of
increasing quality, so if you are downloading a large image over
a slow line, you could see a low-quality image fairly quickly, and
progressively add detail.  Because of this, progressive jpeg images
would most often be found on web pages.

jpeg.v6 also comes with programs to read and write comments in jpeg
files.
