I'd do the following:

  1.  http://kreeft.intmed.mcw.edu/dsk2file.html  and get
     DSK2FILE.

  2. Use it to make your disk images and write the image file
     to the Apple's 3.5" drive

  3. Use Apple File Exchange (or something that mounts ProDOS disks)
     on the Mac to copy the file to the Mac's hard drive.

  4. Change the file's TYPE and CREATOR to whatever is used by
     STM, the type is DSK5 (I think), I don't remember the creator.

That should do the trick...
