I've been using this arrangement for about seven years with no
problems. I need to replace the batteries about every two years using
alkaline AA's. The voltage isn't exactly to spec, but it's damn
close. At least my IIgs is still chugging along with no problems
(well, except for overheating. But that's due to all the cards in the
box).
