A friend of mine (hi, chris!) had turned his II+ into the "programmable" part
of a programmable CD player. i must admit, i never ACTUALLY saw this beast..
but he mentioned that he hooked it all through the slots, addressed through
the cx00-cxff address space. all he had to do was put a little decode
circuitry in there, and he could "push" the buttons on the CD player by
accessing the appropriate memory location.
i would assume that's what you want to do.
pinouts of the apple II motherboard (slots, game port, etc) are available
on ground.isca.uiowa.edu, i believe (via FTP or telnet.. the telnet interface
truly must be seen to be believed). highly recommended.
