    They all refer to the same computer. The plethora of designations
comes partly from the original name logo. It shows "IIGS" with the "GS" in
smaller caps than the "II". Since, in normal text, there is no convenient
way to shift font size, most writers use "IIgs" to make it clear that the
computer is the GS edition of the Apple II series. When the context is
such that everyone knows you are talking about Apple II stuff, then "GS"
is equivalent to "IIgs".
