the speed limit is the speed of light.

Tony Diaz (of Alltech Electronics) conducted an experiment in an attempt
to prove that Einstein was wrong. He took a directory containing 72 high
quality color GIF graphics, and processed it with Convert 3200's "Convert
All" option. Using that option, he was able to convert all those graphics
to 16 color 320 * 200 Apple Prefered Format and save them to disk with
just a single click of his mouse.

How long did it take on an unaccelerated IIGS?

2 minutes and 40 seconds!!!
