True, at first glance, but =maybe= not true in the long run.
I haven't explored the possibilities yet, but it would seem reasonable
that P8 itself =could= be hacked up (severely) to place calls to
code in some bank other than zero to handle block devices.
This would of course require writing something that would simulate the
GS/OS enviroment for an FST (complete with shuffling things out of/back
to bank zero). Such would be a pain, but as Dave Lyons said about his
Visit Applesoft CDA... "It was one of those things that many said
couldn't be done yet I knew it could be..." (I think he also said that
such would be of little use, though my mind is foggy on this)
I don't know yet if I, or anyone else, would ever write such a thing,
but it is do-able I feel.
