That's my understanding. The copyright reverts to either the author or the
supervisor of the team that developed it in a majority-ownership kinda thing.
This kinda struck a chord with me after seeing some Internet sites posting
disk images for Apple II emulators. These are basically wholesale pirate
sites of old, and not so old, Apple II programs. A recent look at one site
showed copies of stuff like Ultima V and AppleWorks (I believe v1.0). It'd be
great if this stuff could be legally distributed to those who still use the
Apple II. Oh well.
