You must not be using any removable SCSI drives (syquest,
floptical, zip, etc) or have some SCSI card other than the
APPLE HS that fixes the problem, because:

Kangaroo goes bonkers if you switch a syquest cartridge and
does the endless polling of all devices for every entry in
the dialog. 3 tries per entry * # entries in dialog * # online
devices can quickly drive you mad.
