Plenty can be done to a IIE. Mine is configured as follows...
ZIP8 chip...ie runs at Intel 32Meg equiv.
Hard drives
print buffer on your Imagewriter II.
more RAM
etc.
You can add a scsi board, check the superserial book for transfer speed
foor a faster modem,etc.
My E was faster than my MAC or DOS machines until I put accelerators in
them to bring them up to par with it.
You could buy Appleworks 5.0 and have just about all the application
power you'll need for a while.
