Re: Apple IIGS network filesharing

LOL. Now I know why they were asking about this in IRC today..

I am so the effing sick of danged netatalk and company.

The IIgs does AFP. MacOS computers that support Open Transport do it
via IP.

AFP is pure friggen voodoo.

The IIgs is connected to 'Comit Empire', which is a 9600.

Does it show up on this list? Of course not.

tdiaz@palomino:/etc/netatalk$ nbplkup
           palomino:AFPServer 1.75:128
           palomino:netatalk 1.75:4
           palomino:Workstation 1.75:4
    Comit Empire:AFPServer 65280.142:254
    Comit Empire: Power Macintosh 65280.142:250
    Comit Empire:Workstation 65280.142:4

Of course, it could be that these two are actually using IP as well
and thats whats showing up on that lookup.

Hell, the Gatorbox doens't even show up if it's plugged in, nor do the
machines using the EtherWave transceivers.

The ICBM isn't showing and it is using IP. Avahi will broadcast the
box even if the atalkd service is stopped.
