Guys,

I'm not sure I'd beat myself up too badly if you're unable consistently to
achieve 115,200 baud with the _built-in_ serial ports on the Beige

PowerMac

G3, particularly under Mac OS X.

I've found that the built-in ports on that machine (both Printer and
Modem),
which are driven by a _clone_ of the Zilog 8530 (rather than by the real
McCoy 8530 as found on the Apple IIGS), are inferior in some respects.

It's an intermittent problem. I got it working again just the other day and
was able to transfer the 800k ADT disk to the GS, and about 20 disks to the
Mac G3-- all at 115k baud, but then something fouled up again and it quit
working.

These are my favorite type of computer problems. :-/

Intermittents are everyone's favorites. ;-)

Of course, what it really means is that we haven't yet found out
how to make the failure solid so it can be easily found...

In this case, intermittency makes me strongly suspect the cable
and connectors.
