Tomorrow I will try swapping cables when things fail. The problem is that
all of my II computing gets done late at night, so by the time things fail,
it's already past my bed-time so I choose to go to sleep instead of spend
even more time fixing it. I'll get started earlier tomorrow to prevent this
problem.

Personally, I think that it's something software-related on the Mac G3.
