I'm no expert, but I used to use PTP, although not connecting
to a Unix Server. A few common points though:

Are you connecting with a 7-bit or 8-bit connection? You need
to be connecting with an 8-bit connection to use Xmodem, Ymodem or
Zmodem (which PTP doesn't have)

You must first tell the unix system to send the file. I'm not sure
how yours works, but on mine the command is

sx <filename>

s for send (from the unix host) and x for xmodem. Check with your
college computer lab sysop for directions for your system.

Then you have to fly with your fingers to get through PTP's menus, because
you only get 30 seconds or something to set everything up. You use the
oa-3, and follow the menus. You gotta be quick or it will time out. As
silly as it seems, when I was using PTP, I would "rehearse" downloads
before I sent the send command to the remote computer.

Hope that helps.
