No.  You need at least a little analog circuitry connected to the
audio input pin, and probably amplification/impedance balancing.  The
smallest "card" I've seen was included with HyperStudio (from Roger
Wagner Publishing) along with a microphone.  It wasn't a "card", as
such - it was a small circuit board (about 1.5" square) that clamped
into the back panel of the IIgs, with wires running to the internal
sound connector and to the fan power connector.  They may still have
them available, but I don't know if you can buy them without buying
HyperStudio.

I've lent mine to a friend, so I can't look at it to see what is on
it.  I have a SoundMeister card in here at the moment.
