I have done some work for a local internet provider in this area,
and they (initially) started their modem pool with LineLink 144s.
Although they all initially worked, within two weeks, two out of
six had to be returned as defective because of strange behavior.
I would not recommend that anyone buy this modem.

Well, Macwarehouse says it was made by Hayes, but I called Hayes to
get some information about the newer one, the Magnum 28.8, and Hayes
says that they have no idea what I'm talking about, that they don't
make any non-hayes labeled products. If anyone knows the answer,
I was calling to find out if the Magnum 288 would ever be upgraded or
upgradable to the new CCITT v.34 standard, since it's only v.FC now.
I'm going to call Macwarehouse back and see if they would like to
revise their statement.
