To turn on my gs I have to turn on the hard drive, let it warm up for about
3 seconds, turn it off for 1 second, turn it back on, then turn on the gs.
Simply turning on everything at once, or just letting the hard drive warm
up without flipping it off for a second before turning the gs on leads to
a hang similar to the one you describe.
bizzare, eh?
