   The Apple IIc ROM 02 on as well as the IIc+ are unable to use SCSI hard 
drives or anything SCSI for that matter. Do what I did: Buy a 100meg Hard 
Drive (CT100c) from Sequential Systems that plugs into the Smartport.  
(where your external drive plugs in). 
   It's a little pricey ($499.00 US) but really  fast considering it's not 
SCSI. (only 7 seconds from startup to selector screen).(Let's see MS-DOS  
beat that!! Hah!)
   As well, the Sequential Hard Drive can also be used with a GS the same 
way. Or if you want to, you can later have it modified to SCSI. (very easy I 
hear)

PS: Only the IIc ROM 01 cannot use the HD, because it needs the external 
UniDisk Smartport upgrade.
