There are no shareware C compilers specifically for the IIgs. The
only commercially available C compiler is ORCA/C from Byte Works.
There is also the MPW IIgs C cross-compiler, which runs on the
Macintosh. Its availability and use are questionable.
There _is_ a freeware C compiler for 8-bit Apple IIs - it runs
on the IIe, IIc and IIgs. It is called Hyper C, and should be
available on one or more of the Apple II FTP sites.
As it is an 8-bit compiler, it cannot take full advantage of the IIgs.
It can only be used to write programs that run in 8-bit mode (e.g.
under ProDOS-8).
It is not an ANSI C compiler, only a "Kernighan and Ritchie" C
compiler, with some extensions.
I haven't used it, and I can't tell you much more about it, but I'm
sure others on this group can provide more information.

I'm not aware of any shareware/freeware assemblers for the IIgs, or
even for the IIe/IIc (unless Hyper C includes an assembler; if so, it
will only be able to assemble 8-bit code).

SHRConvert is an older version of SuperConvert, which is a commercial
application from Seven Hills Software. SHRConvert should not be
distributed any more.
I haven't seen SuperConvert, so I don't know what its GIF conversion
capabilities are.
