Can one telnet to GEnie ?

Hi.  Can one telnet to GEnie on the internet ? Or must one (okay, "I") 
use a dial-up # ?  If one CAN telnet to GEnie, is it possible to ftp 
stuff from them, or do you have to use x-y-zmodem or kermit ?  Thanks.
