Tom,
I have the identical modem and have got it to work quite well, but I
use Spectrum instead of Proterm. The dips I use are 1,4,6 up and the
rest down. The init string is first ATZ (restore to default settings) a
carriage return cnrlR followed by the ATE0V1Q0S7=45 I have not gotten
their high speed init string to work (I know I would have to change the
spectrum commands). It would, I think, would enable hardware
handshaking, which I would like. I do lose some characters but zmodem
does a good enough job that I don't need to worry about the transfer.
I almost always connect to the UNIX box at the college and to internet
from there or grab files I had worked on in the day.
Hope that helps.
One minor irritation is that I can't get the emulation to roll the text
down if I am inserting text. It is still there, but I won't see it
until I edit it under vi (which I use for most of my mail).
I have the same problem with ansi or vt100 (which I usually set spectrum
at).
