IIgs as dumb terminal

Hello fellow Apple II enthusists,

	I have my IIgs hooked up through a serial/null modem cable to
my Linux box's serial port and was wondering how (on the gs's side at
least) to get the freaking thing to connect!  I don't have a comm
program, so i've been using the firmware 'unintelligent terminal'
command (i.e. control-a t after an in#2). and it doesn't seem to work.
could someone point me in the right direction &/or help me!?
