If you want to set the speed, I believe the Copy II+ manual includes a section
on adjusting the speed of the drive. Basically it should spin at 60Hz (rev/s)
and so you can use a flourescent light to check a mark on the flywheel. A pot
is used to adjust the speed. If you want more detail just ask... I've never
actually done it myself.
