(Hint: 70 columns. Makes quoting you easier :)
Anyhow, if you have a IIGS manual, look up the section on slots.
You'll see that the default ports in the back of the IIGS are [usually]
designed to replace the slots, so they cannot be used at the same time
as the built in slots.
If you go to the control panel (control-apple- esc at once), there's
an submenu for slots. In that, you can set each slot from its default
function to "Your Card." Slot 4 is usually the mouse, so you might
want to move the Disk ][ card to some other slot (1 or 2 if you don't
have something in the printer / modem port already), and set that slot
to "Your Card." Then, try again....
