The upgrade to cure the modem port timing problem is a motherboard swap.  The 
original boards divided the frequency of the CPU's clock chip to get the 
frequency for the serial port and it wasn't exact enough for the higher speeds.
The replacement motherboard has a seperate crystal to control the serial port
frequency.

The chip-swap upgrade can make your //c Unidisk 3.5" compatible.
