What is this card?
I asked this question a few weeks ago, but got no replies whatsoever.
So once again, I have here an unknown Apple II card and would like to know what
it does. Here's a description which I hope someone will recognize...
First off it's a homebrewed (breadboard) slot-card, so there's no
company names or special markings on it. There are two socketed chips
mounted near the middle of the card -- both have 16-pins are labeled as
"MC14503" (Motorola brand ICs). Next, rather than circuit pathways across
the board, are a number of multicolored wires. Some connect between the
socketed chips and pathways leading to the gold-fingers of the card
(aprox 9 gold-fingers connect to wires) and others lead near ribbon cables
that run off the board. There are two flat-ribbon cables leading off
the circuit board. One is a 16-pin male and plugs into the game/paddle
I/O connector on the Apple //e motherboard. The other cable (quite long)
is a 15-pin D-style male plug. The long cable was feed through one of the
back ports of the //e and obviously connected to some external device.
The card was plugged into slot #7, which has the synchronization and
"color ref" video signals btw. Then again, it may have just been easiest
for the game/paddle port cable to reach from that slot.
Now, can someone please tell me what is card is and what it can be
used for? Even if your not certain, a good guess would be nice. :-)
