Most likely not. The problem will only show up in the _monochrome_
Double-Hi-Res mode (560x192 B&W). The color fringing your experiencing
is normal when your using color, whether on a composite or RGB screen.
Older 8-bit Apple II Hi-Res (140x192x6) and Double-Hi-Res (140x192x16)
graphics have limitions displaying color information. Not a bug, just the
way it turned out when Wozinak designed the first Apple ][ 17 years ago. FYI,
there's no such problem with Apple IIgs specific Super-Hi-Res graphic images.
[BTW, can someone explain the technical reason for color fringing/bleeding
on older Apple II computers? Never got a straight answer on this..]

Your serial number indicates you do not need the VGC upgrade. If
it were 703 or lower your would.

In a way, a very, very minute pink fringe is normal (I think). I have
my control-panel colors set to white text on a dark-blue background. If you
look very closely at the 80 columns ASCII text, you almost notice a bit of
pink around the edges. It's not easily noticable though, unlike the bad VGC
chip that causes big chunks of pink bits inbetween text (flashing and inverse).
I think you notice a "kinda" pink fringe because of the way Apple II 80 column
characters are made up...very small and narrow. Most IBM text is much larger,
more spaced out and solid looking. This is my guess to the reason, I don't
think a different monitor would make things any better unless you designed
a new 80 columns character generator in ROM (Nice idea to add to TurboRez :)
