Help Me, Help Me!!!!
I just went to kick my dear old ][e in the guts the other day (boot
it) and she didn't go! Oh, no I cry!!!!
Anyway's the story goes like this .... (Those listeners without a
hardware bone in there body may wish to skip this!)
I can remember she had been playing up a bit when I had started her in
the past (didn't boot, power light on, no beep), and some how I started
flicking the drive spindle around, which usually got her going, (need a kick
start pedal eh??) Anyway, the other day, when I turned her on she just sat and
said nothing. Thing is I spent today with my multi-meter, finding the Power
Supply seemed OK, and the only problem I could find was that the RESET pin on
the CPU (6502) was being held low. Now, I traced around for a while, but
trying to figure out what went where on a Revision A motherboard is a
nightmare!
Now what I would like to know is .....
a) Is there a usual cause for this sort of problem, and how do I fix it.
and / or
b) Do you know if I can get the schematics to the ][e, without to much
hassle?
The Apple Distributors here in New Zealand (thats down next to
Australia, but not part of it!!!) are completely useless, and all I get is
"Sorry but we can not disclose that", and "You can get a replacement for
$X".
Anyway, I'm off to see whats on ftp.apple.com, (A postscript file would
be nice.) but any info would be much appreciated! TA!!!!
