That's because nobody who writes software for them other platforms cares about
a little thing called optimization.  Mhz for Mhz you get more power out of the
GS than any other machine.  The other machines simply compensate with ever
more Mhz, to the point where FCC certification is gonna be a real problem (the
FM and TV bands are now within the operating speeds of today's hottest
(literally there for the P5) processors).

The GS does what we ask of it, and it does so fine.  Most power users now have
additional computers (PCs, Macs, whatever) in addition to their GS for those
times when speed is needed.  (This is a smart thing, given how many people who
have sold off or thrown out their A2s or GSes are now suddenly discovering
just how cool old games like Dung Beetles actually are, and now bring all that
power to bear on emulating an Apple II :-)
