I have had the same problems with Kangaroo in AWGS ( I think my problems
started in 6.0 and continued to 6.01). I tried reinstalling Kangaroo and
AWGS, I had no luck with this.
Dave from Seven Hills advised me to delete the Kangaroo Prefs folder.(
/system/preferences/Kangaroo.pref, this is not over written when you
reinstall), and set the Kanga save dialog to " save when closing", after
doing this AWGS seemed to run ok,
for awhile, but after a time when I would get some apps setup in groups and
really start to get into using it, it would cause the system to hang again.
So, for some time I was deleting the Kanga.pref folder on a regular basis.
( This is a real bummer cus you loose your groups and other pref stuff) or
leaving Kangaroo inactive in the Icon info box ( bummer #2 I really like
the utilities that Roo
adds to the apps) .
It had been a long time since I had used Kangaroo when I found myself
searching for files that I had Misplaced because AWGS default path to save
is screwy under 6.01.
I reactivated the little devil, and to my surprise he has been working
great!
Some of the things that I have changed that might have helped solve my
problem are:
I now have 6.01 set to scan 5.25 drives at start up. ( I used to either
have it set to no scan and had the slot 6 set to your card.)
I have removed all the Init's DA's and Cdevs that are not Apple , Seven
Hills or West Code. ( I think there might have been a conflict with Quick
DA from GS+)
I don't draw the Kangaroo Icon at start-up.
I have the Kanga prefs set to: Colored list, Save when closing, Save
position in folders, with no others selected and no shortcuts set.
In the AWGS group setup prefs: I have selected , Show file Info, Adjust
palette, PURGE FILES AT START, Auto remove unknown, Folder file verify.
At first I thought that the 601 thing with the 2-5.25 drives on the desktop
might have been causing my problems, but I have tried to duplicate the
problem by changing Finder Prefs and slot setting and I can't.
Now I think that it might have something to do with drawing the Kanga Icon
at start-up or Saving of files in the groups.
I can't verify this because it seems to take several starts and stops of
AWGS to produce the problem after the changes are made.
Let me know if something here helps you, If I can confirm what the problem
is I will pass this info on to Seven Hills.
